Leadership Speaks

Bishop Sebastian Vadakel

Inspired by the compassionate teachings of Jesus Christ, MPVSS has been steadfastly serving persons with disabilities since its inception in 1997. Over the past 25+ years, our journey has been one of purpose, compassion, and transformation—enriching the lives of hundreds of children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Through our network of special schools, integrated rehabilitation centres, therapeutic programs, and dedicated hostels for children with special needs (CWSN), we have strived to provide not only education and care, but dignity, opportunity, and hope. Yet, we know that true rehabilitation extends far beyond therapy or classroom instruction—it hinges on acceptance, understanding, and inclusion within society.
Our awareness campaigns and community engagement initiatives have played a vital role in shifting perceptions and promoting empathy toward persons with intellectual disabilities. We are heartened to see a growing openness among families and communities to embrace the value of special education and therapy.
One of the most defining milestones in our mission has been the establishment of Manovikas College of Special Education—a pioneering step toward addressing the nationwide shortage of trained professionals in the field of special education. By nurturing skilled, compassionate educators, we aim to foster a more inclusive and accessible educational landscape across India.
As we reflect on the progress made, we are filled with gratitude for the countless individuals who have stood with us—our donors, supporters, well-wishers, and volunteers. Your generosity of spirit, time, and resources has helped ease the burden for many families and enabled those we serve to lead lives of greater independence and dignity.
Still, much remains to be done. The road to full inclusion and equality is long and demands collective action. No single organisation can solve the challenges of disability alone. But together, with shared purpose and unity, we can build a world where every person—regardless of ability—is valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
We thank you for walking this path with us—and invite you to continue being part of this journey of hope, transformation, and inclusion.

At MPVSS, we are guided by an unshakable belief: every individual holds immense potential, regardless of their physical or intellectual abilities. Since our inception in 1997, our mission has been clear and heartfelt—to create a truly inclusive society where persons with disabilities are not only accepted, but celebrated.
What began as a modest special school in Ujjain has blossomed into a far-reaching movement of inclusion, dignity, and empowerment. Today, MPVSS touches lives across multiple districts of Madhya Pradesh through a network of special schools, community-based rehabilitation programs, integrated support centres, and livelihood initiatives.
Each step in our journey has been driven by compassion and resilience. From launching Ujjain’s first special school to witnessing our children compete—and win—at national and international sporting events, we have never wavered in our mission to break down barriers and build a world where everyone can thrive.
But our work goes far beyond education and therapy. It’s about changing lives—the joy of a child taking their first independent step, the determination of a youth finding meaningful employment, the pride of a family who sees their child succeed, and the courage of communities growing more inclusive and compassionate.
These moments, these stories, are the heartbeat of MPVSS.
Behind every milestone stands the unwavering support of our community—our partners, donors, volunteers, and the dedicated MPVSS team. Your belief in our mission fuels our drive to reach even further, to do even more, and to ensure that no person with a disability is left behind.
As we look to the future, we renew our commitment to empower, to advocate, and to transform. The path ahead is still long, but with your continued support, we will move forward—building bridges of understanding, opening doors of opportunity, and creating a society that celebrates every individual, regardless of ability.
Together, we are not just changing lives—we are shaping a more inclusive and compassionate world.
