Highlights Through the Years

1997

Launched Ujjain’s first special school, Manovikas Special School.

1999

Expanded with Navjyoti Special School in Shajapur and Prem Pragti Special School in Rajgarh.

2001

Introduced a Community Centre in Harsiddhi, emphasising local engagement. 

2002

Established Integrated Centers in collaboration with formal schools of the Diocese of Ujjain at Shujalpur, Agar, Biaora and Nagda strengthening community support. 

2003

Opened Samarth Centre, a Respite Care Home accommodating 15 individuals.

2004

Affiliated with M.P. Bhoj Open University provides Special Education courses.

2005

Hosted Ullas, the first state-level cultural and sports competition for special children. 

2006

Partnered with Bangalore University for a Certificate Course in Community Based Rehabilitation.

2007

Received the Certificate of Appreciation from Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister for exemplary service in the field of disability. 

2008

Honored with the National Award for Best NGO by the Ministry of Social Justice. Launched an eye-health CBR project in Tarana, Ujjain. 

2009-10

Opened CWSN boys hostels in Khichipur and Shajapur with the support of Samagra Shikhsa Abhiyan, offering secure living for children with special needs. 

2011

Introduced the Inclusive Development project for Children and Youngsters with Disabilities (IDCYD Project) for inclusive development in collaboration with Jan Vikas Samiti and Lillian Foundation, Netherlands.  

Deepak Sharma, a student with intellectual disability from Manovikas, won a gold medal as part of the Basketball team at the Paralympics in Athens, Spain. 

2013

MPVSS athletes with intellectual disabilities won a bronze medal at the National Football Championship organised by Special Olympics Bharat in Hisar. 

2015

Started the Manovikas College of Special Education, offering a B.Ed (S.E) program, affiliated with Vikram University. Initiated operations of District Disabled Rehabilitation Centres (DDRCs) in Ujjain and Shajapur with the Social Justice Department, enhancing local disability services.  

Abhishek Vishwakarma, a student with intellectual disability was selected for 100m, 200m and 4×100m relay events in the International Special Olympics selection camps in Los Angeles, USA. 

2016

Launched the Sparsh Project for people with deafblindness and multi-sensory impairments.

2017

Special athletes Javed Khan and Deepak Sharma won gold and silver medals, respectively, at the Winter Sports Competition organized by Rotary Club in Bhopal.

2018

Established the Mother Teresa Integrated Centre at Tarana Block, Ujjain. 

2020-21

Provided COVID-19 relief services with support from Azim Premji Foundation Jan Vikas Samiti and Sense International India. 

2022

Began the Ashayen CBR Project for children with disabilities with the support of Azim Premji Foundation. 

2023

Opened the third CWSN Hostel in Harsodan, Ujjain. Won silver and bronze medals at the National Championship, a three-day sports competition hosted by Special Olympics Bharat in Gurugram, Haryana.

2024

Opened the fourth CWSN Hostel in Rajgarh. Launched CBR Project Pragati in partnership with M3M Foundation (Gurgaon) and SPJIMR (Mumbai) to link individuals with government schemes.  Imran, a student with intellectual disability won medals in the National Powerlifting Competition at Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Abhishek Vishwakarma, a student with intellectual disability bagged silver medals in the National Badminton Championship at Sarusajal, Guwahati and Assam.
