MPVSS: Empowering Lives Through Sports and Games

This year, MPVSS has made commendable strides in the field of sports, marking a year of achievement and pride. Numerous specially-abled children from MPVSS had the opportunity to showcase their talents by participating in a range of sports activities at the district, state, and national levels. Their active involvement and commendable performances not only brought recognition to the organization but also served as a powerful testament to their determination, resilience, and potential. MPVSS hosts year-round events and competitions, keeping children engaged and active. Specialized training programs are conducted to develop skills in sports, performing arts, and cultural activities. Children are supported and encouraged to participate at district, state, national, and even international levels.

Participation in National Coaching Camps

Special Olympics Bharat organized a series of National Coaching Camps aimed at preparing special athletes for international competitions, and MPVSS students made their presence felt with active and enthusiastic participation. Akruti Parihar and Charu Verma represented MPVSS at the National Football Coaching Camp held in Ahmedabad, while Iva Acharya took part in the Basketball Camp in Pondicherry from July 1st to 6th, 2022. Javed Khan showcased his strength and determination at the Powerlifting Camp in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, held from July 11th to 16th, 2022. In addition, a six-day National Handball Training Camp was held in Sonipat, Haryana, from July 24th to 29th, 2022, where MPVSS students including Abhishek Meher, Rudra Raghuvanshi, and others from Manovikas Special School, Udaan Integrated Center, and Prem Sagar Special School demonstrated exceptional performance. Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Govind Chaparwal and Coach Michal Nair, the Madhya Pradesh team achieved outstanding success, securing victories against teams from Pondicherry and Karnataka. The directors and members of MPVSS extended their heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their commendable achievements and inspiring representation.

Participation in National Unified Basketball Virtual Competition

Silver and Bronze Medals in National Championship 2023

The Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) organized a virtual National Unified Basketball Competition at Manovikas Special School, Ujjain, on the 17th and 18th of October 2022. This pioneering virtual event featured a spirited match between the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. The Manovikas Special School team delivered an outstanding performance, with team members Iva Acharya, Khushbu Basanwal, and Shivani Patel competing in the girls’ category alongside their unified partners Simran, Priyanka, and Indira. In the boys’ category, Divyansh Marmat, Deepak, Abhishek Meher, and Tarun Malviya showcased remarkable teamwork and skill. Their dedication and performance earned them well-deserved success and accolades.

In a remarkable showcase of talent and perseverance, three intellectually disabled students from Manovikas Special School, under the care of Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayta Samiti, excelled at a three-day sports competition organized by Special Olympics Bharat, held from March 29 to 31 in Gurugram, Haryana. Their exceptional performances brought immense pride to the state. Akshita Jain showcased her talent in the girls’ badminton category, earning a well-deserved silver medal by securing second place. Charu Verma also delivered an impressive performance, securing third place and winning a bronze medal. The unwavering support of special educator Mrs. Anita Gyani, along with the dedicated efforts of sports in-charge Mr. Suraj Chaurasia, played a crucial role in their success. The entire Manovikas team extended their heartfelt congratulations to the young athletes for their outstanding achievements.

State Level Cultural and Sports Competition: Ullas 2023

Ullas 2023, a vibrant state-level cultural and athletic competition, was organized by Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayta Samiti (MPVSS) from 2nd to 4th March 2023. The event brought together 878 special children from 18 special schools across Madhya Pradesh, showcasing their talents, enthusiasm, and spirit through a series of dynamic cultural performances and sporting events.
