Empowering Abilities, Transforming Lives
MPVSS offers comprehensive support to individuals with disabilities through a range of services including special education, therapeutic care, vocational training, and community outreach. These initiatives aim to foster inclusion, build independence, and uphold dignity. Operating across underserved regions of Madhya Pradesh, MPVSS is dedicated to creating an equitable society where every individual can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
Our Services
In Madhya Pradesh, disability remains a significant challenge, affecting millions of individuals and their families. According to the Census 2011, 15,51,931 people – 2.13% of the state’s total population – are identified as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). In Ujjain alone, 38,868 individuals (2.27% of the districts population) live with disabilities that hinder their access to education, healthcare and employment opportunities.
MPVSS has been at the forefront of disability inclusion, working tirelessly for the development and rehabilitation of children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDDs). Our focus areas include:
- Intellectual Disability
- Cerebral Palsy
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Multiple Disabilities, including Deaf blindness.
Additionally, MPVSS also provides support to individuals with all other disabilities recognized under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.
MPVSS is committed to a cross-disability approach, ensuring that no child or adult with disabilities is left behind. Our work is driven by the belief that every individual, regardless of their disability, deserves dignity, opportunity and a life of independence.
As Madhya Pradesh’s leading organisation working for children and adults with disabilities, MPVSS is committed to promoting independence, inclusion and dignity through a wide range of specialised services. We recognize that every individual with a disability is unique – each has distinct needs, diverse circumstances and the potential to make a meaningful impact on the world. This understanding is at the core of everything we do.
Our programs are thoughtfully designed to provide specialised education, therapeutic interventions, skill development and community support, ensuring holistic growth and empowerment. Through our specialized services, we are dedicated to building a society where children and adults with disabilities are recognized not by their limitations, but by their abilities and contributions. Our services include:
Every child with a disability has the right to education, yet millions worldwide are denied this fundamental right. Children with disabilities are particularly vulnerable to exclusion from quality learning due to societal misconceptions and a lack of inclusive education systems.
At MPVSS, we provide individualised education plans tailored to each child’s learning abilities, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive. Our specialised training programs focus on:
● Self-care skills for greater independence
● Social adaptability to nurture meaningful interactions
● Functional academics to build essential literacy and numeracy skills
● Sports and cultural activities for holistic development
We incorporate art, craft, music and dance as interactive learning tools, ensuring practical exposure and active participation. Our goal is to create an inclusive and unbiased learning environment, where every child - regardless of their physical, social or intellectual differences - can reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
Therapeutic support plays a crucial role in improving the physical, emotional and cognitive well-being of children with disabilities. At MPVSS, our therapy team focuses on each child’s unique potential and collaborates closely with families, teachers and caregivers to create a supportive environment.
Our well-equipped centres provide:
● Physiotherapy to improve motor skills and mobility
● Occupational therapy to enhance daily living skills
● Sensory integration therapy for children with ADHD, autism and other sensory impairments
● Speech Therapy
By looking beyond a child’s challenges and working through individualized interventions, our therapists strengthen abilities, build confidence and improve participation in educational and social settings.
Enabling persons with disabilities with vocational skills is a crucial step toward selfreliance and economic independence. Traditional employment often presents barriers for individuals with disabilities, making specialized training essential for enhancing job opportunities.
MPVSS provides hands-on training in:
● Computer literacy
● Handicrafts and product manufacturing (files, candles, decorative items)
● Manual and semi-automated production techniques
Through adaptive technology, on-the-job training and employer collaborations, we help individuals with disabilities develop practical skills that enable them to contribute to society with confidence and dignity. Our vocational training programs bridge the gap between disability and employment, fostering a sense of independence, purpose and belonging.
Families play an essential role in the development, well-being and empowerment of children with disabilities. However, parents often face significant challenges in understanding their child’s needs and navigating the complexities of care, education and rehabilitation.
MPVSS provides:
● Regular counselling sessions to support parents in their journey
● Workshops and training programs on disability management
● Guidance on accessing welfare schemes and rehabilitation services
By equipping families with the knowledge, skills and emotional support they need, we ensure that children with disabilities receive the best possible care and opportunities for growth and inclusion.
Outreach and community engagement are essential in challenging societal barriers and promoting inclusion for persons with disabilities. Through our outreach programs, we actively work to:
● Raise awareness about the rights and potential of individuals with disabilities
● Connect families to essential resources and services
● Foster a more inclusive and supportive society
Our outreach team conducts field visits, awareness programs and counselling sessions across Madhya Pradesh, ensuring that disability support reaches even the most underserved communities. By partnering with local organisations, engaging with policymakers and conducting community events, we work towards a future where every person with a disability is valued, empowered and included.
We recognize that skilled and well-informed educators are the foundation of quality education. To ensure our team remains equipped with the latest knowledge and best practices, we conduct regular capacity-building programs for our special educators and staff. These programs focus on professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative teaching techniques, enabling our educators to create inclusive and effective learning environments for children with disabilities.
Key Areas of Training:
● Professional development: Training on disability-specific interventions,
assessment strategies, mental health and behaviour management to enhance teaching effectiveness.
● Interdisciplinary collaboration: Strengthening coordination between special educators, therapists and counsellors to provide holistic support to students.
● Technology integration: Introducing assistive devices and digital tools to enhance accessibility and learning outcomes.
● Inclusive teaching methods: Developing strategies for differentiated instruction, ensuring every child receives individualized attention.
● Parental engagement: Equipping educators with skills to involve families in their child’s education and rehabilitation journey.
Through these initiatives, we aim to not only enhance teaching quality but to also foster a more inclusive, supportive and effective educational environment.
Children with disabilities from remote areas often face barriers to education due to a lack of infrastructure, trained teachers and accessible learning environments. To bridge this gap, MPVSS operates dedicated CWSN hostels under the Inclusive Education
Program - Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. These hostels provide a safe, inclusive and supportive residential environment for children with special needs (CWSN), enabling them to pursue education alongside their peers.
Key Features of CWSN Hostels:
● Accessibility: Barrier-free infrastructure with ramps, railings, wheelchair access and adapted facilities.
● Inclusive learning environment: Special teaching methods, assistive devices and peer learning to support diverse needs.
● Holistic development: Classroom education, life skills training and social integration for overall growth.
● Regular monitoring: Continuous evaluation by block, district and state education officials to ensure quality services.
Caring for a child with a disability is a full-time responsibility that can be physically and emotionally demanding. MPVSS’s Respite Care Home, provides short-term and longterm residential care for children and adults with developmental disabilities. This service offers a safe and nurturing environment where individuals receive training for independent living, while giving caregivers the opportunity to manage personal responsibilities, handle emergencies or simply take a well-deserved break.
Our Respite Care :
● Prevents caregiver burnout: Reduces stress and exhaustion, allowing caregivers to continue providing quality support.
● Ensures quality care: Trained professionals provide individualized attention and life skills training for the child’s well-being.
● Supports family stability: Offers temporary relief during difficult family situations, medical needs or work obligations.
Respite care is available both on a planned and emergency basis, ensuring that families always have access to reliable and compassionate support when they need it most. By prioritizing both the individual’s development and the caregiver’s well-being, MPVSS strives to create a sustainable and inclusive support system for families of children with disabilities.
Access to government welfare schemes is crucial for families of children with disabilities, yet many remain unaware or struggle with the application process. At MPVSS, we ensure that maximum beneficiaries receive the support they are entitled to by guiding them through the process of availing various schemes and benefits .
We assist families in accessing:
● Social Security Pensions & Financial Aid (e.g., Sahayta Anudan Yojana, scholarships ,legal guardianship)
● Healthcare & Insurance (e.g., Niramaya Health Insurance)
● Travel Concessions & Tax Benefits (e.g., Railway concessions, income tax exemptions)
● Legal & Disability Certification (e.g., UDID , disability certificates, Adhar )
● Assistive Devices & Aids (e.g., mobility aids, hearing aids, Braille kits, prosthetics, )
By bridging the gap between families and government support systems, MPVSS empowers children with disabilities to lead better lives with financial stability, healthcare access and educational opportunities. Our continuous efforts ensure inclusive growth, independence and a secure future for every beneficiary.
There is a huge gap between demand and supply of human resources in the field of special education and rehabilitation. A well-trained workforce is essential to providing individualized and effective support for children with disabilities. Therefore demand for special education teachers and rehabilitation professionals would increase manifold in near future, thus catering more and more career opportunities. However becoming a special educator is not an easy task. Special education teachers are required to work with students having a wide range of learning, mental, physical, and emotional disabilities.
Since 2004, MPVSS has been committed to developing qualified special educators by offering RCI-recognized disability-related distance education B.Ed. (SEDE) in collaboration with M.P. Bhoj Open University.
To cater the ongoing needs of regular academic programmes. In the year 2015 MPVSS established Manovikas college of Special Education (MCSE) which is one of the most renowned Special Education Colleges in central India .The college has assembled a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members who possess extensive expertise in the field of special education. These educators are not only proficient in delivering high-quality instruction but also serve as mentors and role models for aspiring special educators.
